Thank you for exploring my music. The goal of Urraca was exactly that: to make good songs. I wanted to create something melodic with interesting textures that highlight the sound of the bass guitar. This music is designed to be enjoyed by both the player and the listener.
These are not etudes, but each song has technical challenges. Many of these pieces can be played as a duo. Players may find it easier to divide the harmonies and countermelodies amongst a trio or quartet. My hope is that friends will sit down and read these songs together and bass teachers will play them with their students. I also hope this book provides repertoire for unique chamber groups. I would love to hear this music performed by any combination of cello, trombone, bass trombone, bass guitar, double bass, percussion etc. I have also included lead sheets for jazz combos. Please note that these are arrangements, not transcriptions. Thank you and enjoy Urraca. (©2019)
